Ministry

The School Sisters of St. Francis were originally founded as a congregation to teach young women to be good Christian mothers.  As the years progressed, many of our Sisters spent many years in schools as teachers and administrators.  Here in the United States, as in other countries, we helped to improve the educational system and teach Christian values to many.

Sister Sini, from our convent in India, helps at our personal care home in Pittsburgh.

As the years have gone by and the needs of the Church have changed, our Sisters have responded through new ministries.  In all of our ministries, we teach, by our actions and when needed by our words, the love of Christ for all people.  Presently our Sisters serve in the fields of education, religious education, health care, elder care, retreat work, youth ministry, parish ministry, social outreach and mission work as the needs arise and as the Sisters can respond to these needs. We have three ministries that we sponsor; Mount Assisi Academy Preschool in Pittsburgh, PA, Saint Francis Center for Renewal, a retreat center in Bethlehem, PA and Marian Hall Personal Care Home in Pittsburgh, PA.
